Positions

Campaign poster for the 2013 federal election

Schick is mainly active in the areas of financial markets, economics and taxes. In the course of the financial and euro crisis , he campaigned for a European fund to restructure the banking system. In order to deal with the euro crisis, Schick is calling for an old debt fund, among other things. He was also one of the initiators for a special party conference of Alliance 90 / The Greens on the euro crisis .

In 2010, Schick published a paper together with party chairman Özdemir calling for a clear correction of social inequality in Germany. Schick is also active in the areas of consumer protection for financial products, tax enforcement, money laundering and tax evasion . He rejects the negotiated tax agreement between Germany and Switzerland .

Schick supported numerous initiatives for the equality of same-sex couples in tax law.

Schick is co-author of the paper Echter Aufbruch , formulated in 2012 by several green politicians of the Catholic faith , in which the introduction of a “ cultural tax based on the Italian model” is required, which all people have to pay to a charitable institution of their choice. Such a tax, criticized in some media as an “additional tax for those without a denomination”, was already described by lawyers of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) in 2007 as “disguised state financing” and therefore incompatible with Article 140 of the Basic Law . Alexander Marguier criticized the idea in an article in the magazine Cicero as a “general church exit prevention tax”. There was also criticism of the position paper within the own party.

In his book Power Economy - No Thanks! For an economy that serves us all , Schick advocates limiting the economic in the interests of a humane order. He advertises u. a. for a new " Progressive Movement " in Germany and Europe based on the US model.
