HIPPY

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HIPPY ( " H ome I nstruction for P arents of P re-school Y oungsters") is an in Israel developed kindergarten complementary home visit program of early education for families with preschoolers. The aim is to strengthen the parent-child relationship , the cognitive, linguistic and emotional support of the children by the parents and the preparation for school attendance.

Content of the program

The improvement of the educational opportunities of the participating children is achieved through the promotion of targeted learning and play activities by the parents. The participating families, accompanied by a trained home visitor, deal with pictures, texts and tasks in the books belonging to the program. Each book contains exercises that can then be used for further joint activities. The program takes place alternately with the families at home and in group meetings. The parents' existing skills are used and expanded. They are made aware of the age-appropriate needs of their children and their personal responsibility is strengthened. This enables them to better see progress in their children's development, which strengthens the parent-child relationship. Regular home visits by women from the same culture who practice the program with their parents in role play are intended to lower the inhibition threshold for participation. The home visits enable an individual and supportive approach to the needs of the families. The parents also benefit from the fact that they are introduced to the respective national language.

The IMPULS Deutschland Stiftung eV is the nationwide licensor for HIPPY in Germany and is responsible for the further development and quality assurance of the program. In Austria this function is taken over by the beratungsgruppe.at association .
