Rolf Brand

Rolf Brand (* 1932 in Hamm / Westphalia ) is a German Aikidō teacher (8th Dan ).

Rolf Brand practiced various martial arts for many years, including judo , karate , aikidō and t'ai-chi-ch'uan .

Live and act

Rolf Brand received his 1st Dan in Judo in 1963, in Aikidō in 1969. He was active as a referee, teacher and official since the early 1960s, co-founder of the Aikidō section in the German Judo Association and long-time chairman of the German Aikidō Association (DAB), which was founded in 1977. In addition to others, such as Gerd Wischnewski and Erhard Altenbrandt , he played a key role in the spread of Aikidō in Germany and wrote several specialist books on Aikidō. Also with Erhard Altenbrandt, Rolf Brand founded the Aikido-Union Deutschland eV in 2002

On December 2nd and 3rd, 2006, Rolf Brand held his last public course at TSV Musberg eV. He and his wife Helga also said goodbye to the active training activities of their home club, the Aikido Club Lübeck, in spring 2007.

Rolf Brand handed over the Menkyo kaiden (certificate of successor) to his long-time master student Björn Rahlf (5th Dan) on March 25, 2007.
