HMAS Harman is an intelligence and logistic facility of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). It is located in the Australian capital Canberra . The facility was built in the late 1930s.

history

The system was completed on April 20, 1939 and started radio operations on December 22, 1939.

In addition to the task of data transmission , HMAS Harman takes on administrative and logistical tasks for the Navy personnel in the Australian Capital Territory and in southern New South Wales . The facility also contains a supply depot for the Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force .

A member of the Royal Australian Navy Women's Service in HMAS Harman in 1941. Harman was the first unit in which women served in the RAN.

The Sydney Morning Herald named HMAS Harman as one of four monitoring organizations in Australia, along with Pine Gap , Shoal Bay and Geraldton / Kojarena , that use XKeyscore software to collect data for the NSA .
