HMS Acasta

Several warships of the British Navy were named HMS Acasta :

  • The first HMS Acasta , a frigate with 40 guns, was launched in 1797 and was used during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812 with the USA, where it conquered the American privateer Prince de Neufchâtel together with HMS Leander and HMS Newcastle . It was scrapped in 1821.
  • The second HMS Acasta , a wooden screw-propelled frigate. It was laid down in 1861, but not completed.
  • The third HMS Acasta (G40) was a destroyer launched in 1912 that gave its name to the Acasta class . It was sold for scrapping in 1921.
  • The fourth HMS Acasta (H09) was an A-class destroyer launched in 1929 and sunk on June 8, 1940 by the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau .
  • The fifth HMS Acasta (P452) was an Amphion-class submarine , construction of which was stopped in 1945.
