HMS Aurora
HMS Aurora or HMS Aurore is the name of the following British ships that are named after Aurora , the Roman goddess of the dawn:
- HMS Aurora (1757) , a 5th class ship with 32 guns, originally the French frigate Abenakise . It was captured in 1757 and scrapped in 1763.
- HMS Aurora (1766) , a 5th class warship with 32 guns, launched in 1766 and destroyed by fire in 1770.
- HMS Aurora (1777) , a 6th class ship with 28 guns, launched in 1777 and sold in 1814.
- HMS Aurore (1793) , a French 5th class warship with 32 guns that was captured in 1793. She wasconvertedinto a prison shipin 1799and remained in service until 1803.
- HMS Aurora (1809) , a wooden sloop with 14 cannons, launched in 1809 and captured by France the following year.
- HMS Aurora (1814) , a 5th class warship with 38 cannons, originally the French Clorinde . It was captured in 1814 and broken up in 1851.
- HMS Aurora (1861) , a wooden frigate with propeller drive , which was launched in 1861 and scrapped 1881st
- HMS Aurora (1887) , an armored cruiser of the Orlando-Class , which was launched in 1887. It was sold for scrapping in 1907.
- HMS Aurora (1913) , a light cruiser of the Arethusa class in 1913 was launched. It was handed over to Canada in 1920 and scrapped in 1927.
- HMS Aurora (12) , a light cruiser the Arethusa class , in 1936 was launched. It was sold to China in 1948 and scrapped in 1960.
- HMS Aurora (F10) , a Leander- class frigate thatwas launched in 1962 and scrapped in 1990.
