HMS Chatham
Fifteen ships of the Royal Navy were named HMS Chatham after the port of Chatham (Kent) , or the Chatham Dockyard located there
- The first HMS Chatham (1666) was a Galiot captured in 1666 during the Anglo-Dutch War (1665–1667) .
- The second HMS Chatham (1673) was a 4-gun sloop that was launched in 1673 and crashed in 1677.
- The third HMS Chatham (1691) was a 4th class ship launched in 1691 and sunk as a breakwater off Sheerness in 1749 . Elevation and demolition in 1762.
- The fourth HMS Chatham (1716) was a 4-gun yach launched in 1716 and sold in 1742.
- The fifth HMS Chatham (1741) was a 6-gun yacht launched in 1741. Totally renewed in 1793 and 1842, it was demolished in 1867.
- The sixth HMS Chatham (1758) was a 50-gun frigate launched in 1758, which only provided port service from 1793 and was used in Puverhulk from 1805. In 1810 it was renamed HMS Tilbury and demolished in 1814.
- The seventh HMS Chatham (1788) was a 4-gun brig (launched in 1788) that was part of George Vancouver's Pacific expedition and sailed around the world. This ship is the namesake of the Chatham Islands . It was sold in 1830.
- The eighth HMS Chatham (1790) was a 4-gun schooner that was purchased in 1790 and sold again in 1794.
- The ninth HMS Chatham (1793) was a sloop rented in 1793.
- The tenth HMS Chatham (1811) was a transporter used from 1811 to 1825.
- The eleventh HMS Chatham (1809) was a 74-gun ship of the line. Started as the French Royal Hollandais , it was captured in Vlissingen in 18909 , put into service in 1812 and sold in 1817.
- The twelfth HMS Chatham (1813) was a crane ship launched in 1813 and demolished in 1876.
- The thirteenth HMS Chatham (1835) was an iron paddle steamer (launched in 1835). She was sold to the United States and was a Confederate blockade breaker during the American Civil War . It was raised by the USS Huron (1861) in 1863 and continued to be used as the USS Chatham (1836) until 1865.
- The fourteenth HMS Chatham (1911) was a 1911 overflowed from the deck light cruiser of the Town class . Awarded to the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1920 and scrapped in 1926.
- The fifteenth HMS Chatham (F87) is a frigate of Broadsword-class launched in 1988 and still in service.
