HMS Colossus
HMS Colossus is the name of several ships in the British Royal Navy :
- HMS Colossus (1787) , a 74-gun - battleship , was launched in 1787 and ran in 1798 against Samson aground.
- HMS Colossus (1803) was a 74-gun ship of the line launched in 1803 and scrapped in 1826.
- HMS Colossus (1848) was an 80-gun ship of the line that was launched in 1848, converted to screw drive in 1854 and sold in 1867.
- HMS Colossus (1882) , an armored tower ship and lead ship of the Colossus class , was launched in 1882 and sold in 1908.
- HMS Colossus (1910) was a dreadnought battleship , lead ship of the Colossus class , which was launched in 1910 and scrapped in 1928.
- HMS Colossus (R15) was a light aircraft carrier , type ship of the Colossus class , entered service in 1944, given to France in 1945, where it was named Arromanches , converted to a helicopter carrier in 1968 and scrapped in 1978.
