HMS Cornwall
HMS Cornwall is the name of the following six ships of the United Kingdom's Royal Navy , named after the Duchy of Cornwall :
- HMS Cornwall (1692) was an 80-gun 3rd class ship of the line that was launched in 1692 and scrapped in 1761.
- HMS Cornwall (1761) , a 74-gun ship , was launched in 1761 and was so badly damaged in battles in the Caribbean in 1780 that it was burned down as not worth repairing.
- HMS Cornwall (1812) was also a 74-gun ship that was launched in 1812, reduced to 50 guns in 1831, renamed HMS Wellesley in 1869 and used as a training ship until it was scrapped in 1874.
- HMS Cornwall (1902) was a battleship of Monmouth class, which was launched in 1902 and was sold in 1920 for breaking up.
- HMS Cornwall (56) , a County-class heavy cruiser , was launched in 1926 and sunk by air during the Japanese attack in the Indian Ocean in 1942.
- HMS Cornwall (F99) is a Broadsword-class frigate that was in service from 1985 to 2011.
