HMS Petersfield

The British minesweeper HMS Petersfield from the Hunt-class minesweeper series from 1916 was built by the Lobnitz & Company shipyard, Renfrew , and launched on March 3, 1919. Originally it was to be called HMS Portmadoc . With a length of 69 meters and 8.5 meters wide and a draft of 2.1 meters, it had a tonnage of 800 t.

Deployed in the China Station he ran aground on the journey from Shanghai to Fuzhou on November 11, 1931 in the Yangtze estuary off Tung Yung Island in very bad weather. On November 12, 1931, the crew of the German passenger steamer Derfflinger was rescued. Among those rescued was the British Commander in Chief Howard Kelly and his family.
