Eight ships of the British Royal Navy were named (HMS) Royal George after several British kings named Georg

  • The first Royal George was a first class ship of the line with 100 guns, launched in 1675 as the Royal James and renamed in 1714.
  • The second Royal George was a first class ship of the line with 100 guns, launched in 1673 as the Royal Charles and renamed in 1714.
  • The third Royal George was a first class ship of the line with 100 guns launched in 1756. It was used in the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence, and sank while at anchor in Spithead in 1782 , killing between 800 and 950 people.
  • The fourth HMS Royal George was a 20-gun sloop that entered service in 1776 for use on the Canadian Lakes.
  • The fifth HMS Royal George was a first class ship of the line with 100 guns, launched in 1788 and scrapped in 1822.
  • The sixth HMS Royal George was a 20 gun sloop that was used on the Great Lakes in the War of 1812 with the United States in 1809 , renamed HMS Niagara in 1814 , and sold in 1837.
  • The seventh HMS Royal George was a yacht launched in 1817 and scrapped in 1905.
  • The eighth HMS Royal George was a first class ship of the line with 120 guns, launched in 1827, screw-propelled in 1853, and sold in 1875.
  • The battleship HMS King George V was laid down under the name HMS Royal George , but renamed before it was launched in 1911.
