HMS Tamar (1814)

HMS Tamar was a warship of the British Royal Navy of the sixth grade , built in 1814 in Spithead , southern England. The HMS Tamar was equipped with 26 cannons. In 1820 she sailed towards the Caribbean, where she stayed for some time as a patrol ship and operated from Jamaica . In 1823 she destroyed three pirate ships there.

In 1824 HMS Tamar took part in an expedition to the Australian north coast together with HMS Lady Nelson , where, among other things, the settlement of Fort Dundas was founded on Melville Island .

After returning to England, the ship was decommissioned in 1831.
