Haël-Werkstätten für Künstlerische Keramik GmbH was a 1923 by Dr. Gustav Loebenstein, whose wife Margarete b. Heymann and Daniel Loeb stone in the former Kachelofenfabrik as the successor of the producing company Petry in Marwitz , Brandenburg , founded on a lease basis earthenware -Manufaktur. It was shut down by the owner in 1933.

history

The successful course of business in 1927 allowed the shareholders to purchase and expand the company premises. The design and décor were based on the Velten-Vordamm stoneware factory . Ms. Loebenstein had previously worked here.

In March 1928 the Loebenstein brothers had an accident on the way to the Leipzig sample fair. The widow initially continued the business successfully and was able to present the new, simple tableware "Norma" from August 28 to September 1, 1932 at the Leipzig autumn fair , despite ongoing losses, during the global economic crisis . But the annual loss for the 1932 financial year was 33,768 Reichsmarks. The company did not appear at the Leipzig Spring Fair. New money was necessary to continue the business in the old tiled stove factory, which was closed by Margarete Loebenstein at the beginning of July 1933.

Plant manager August Wojak, who took over the Velten plant of the Velten-Vordamm stoneware factory, which went bankrupt in 1931, is now trying to win over Adolf Kruckau, the director of the successor company, Keramisches Werk Vordamm , to re-establish the Velten plant in the old Marwitz tiled stove factory. Margarete Loebenstein had previously worked in the Velten plant, she was supposed to take over the artistic direction and a half of the share of 20,000 RM. So it was Kruckau and the liquidator appointed by Loebenstein, Dr. Max Silberstein agreed. But in September 1933 Loebenstein finally shut down the company and tried to found a new company in Jerusalem . As Nora Herz wrote to Hedwig Bollhagen , Margarete Loebenstein was expected back on November 17th for new negotiations on the basis of the preliminary agreement reached.

Heinrich Schild , who had already acted as bankruptcy advisor to the laid-off workers at the Velten-Vordamm stoneware factory in 1931, resumed negotiations and, by founding HB workshops for ceramics on May 1, 1934, was able to join the stoneware factory staff under the Artistic leadership of Hedwig Bollhagen to set up a new job as a managing director who works free of charge. Bollhagen became an employee of the new company. She could use existing and new decors as well as existing and new models by using both the repertory of the Haël workshops - including forms from the "Norma" series - and, on the other hand, the Velten-Vordamm stoneware colors - including Charlotte Hartmann's "Paradise Pattern" by re-employing the painters - bind to new service groups. Special pieces were also produced. Margarete Loebenstein participated in the profits and has now successfully devoted herself to painting in Berlin. She emigrated between 1937 and 1938.
