Hair wax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hair wax (places also English : "Hair wax") is a hair care product for shaping and strengthening ( "styling") of the hairstyle .

A small can of hair wax

Compared to the widespread hair gel , wax mainly differs in that it has significantly less water and the property that it does not harden. This enables (correctly dosed) an almost invisible hold in which the natural structure and color of the hair are hardly affected. Wax is particularly suitable for thin, thinning and straight hair to add volume to the hairstyle. As with the gel, there are also products that have a “wet effect”, i.e. a wet appearance, and are therefore visible in the result. The wax has conditioning properties that can primarily benefit dry hair; split ends can also be effectively concealed.

Hair wax is available in various degrees of strength. Wax is only conditionally suitable for shaping long hair. Since it never hardens, the weight of the hair usually causes the hairstyle to fall apart again over time.

Originally the term was used in this sense for wax mixed with sebum. Today they contain various waxes , stearates , mineral oils and other compounds.
