Habib Yammine

Habib Yammine (* 1956 in Zekrite , al-Mitn , Mount Lebanon Governorate ) is a Lebanese musician , composer and musicologist .

Life

Habib Yammine learned to play the violin at the Beirut Conservatory . He later studied music in Paris, where he met Aïcha Redouane (* 1962) from Morocco. They discovered their shared passion for classical Arabic music. Since then they have not only played music together, but also became a couple and got married.

Habib Yammine dealt with the music of the Yemeni tribes in his dissertation. He teaches at the University of Paris VIII at Cité Musique in Paris and Maqâm in Lille . Habib Yammine is primarily concerned with Arabic music, especially with drums: riq , the daff and the darbuka .
