Hachimon

Hachimon ( Japanese 八 門 , English eight goals ) is a karate kata created by Tetsuhiko Asai . It is to be assigned to the Shōtōkan karate.

Among the characteristics of this kata one belongs Embusen in eight-pointed star shape, the eight main points of the compass according to a compass. In addition, there is a constant flow of changes in position and direction, which makes Hachimon a very demanding kata in combination with, among other things, two-handed techniques, shortening and lengthening the distance, Tai Sabaki or a Ushiro-Geri in the kneeling position. During the execution, particular attention is to be paid to correct posture and footwork.

Hachimon can also be seen as a summary of the Junro kata also developed by Asai and intended for advanced beginners , as it combines many of the principles taught in the Junro kata.
