Hackerspace Global Grid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hackerspace Global Grid is a project with the aim of building a distributed sensor and communication network. It was initiated in summer 2011 by Armin Bauer ( shackspace ), Andreas Hornig ( Constellation Platform ) and Gregor Jehle (shackspace) when the Chaos Communication Camp 2011 called for a space program for hackers to be launched. Hackerspace Global Grid is to provide the communication infrastructure required for this.

The long-term goal is to use the distributed sensor and antenna network to determine the position of near-Earth satellites and to be able to communicate with them. In addition, the platform is designed to be open to other sensors, e.g. B. for the detection of earthquakes, to integrate the measurement of background radiation or weather data. The system is currently able to track aircraft positions that are transmitted from the aircraft by means of ADS-B .
