The weed harrow is an agricultural tool similar to the harrow , which is used for mechanical weed control .

A tractor pulls the weeder across the field . The metal hooks pointing downwards tear up the small weed plants in the upper soil layer and spill them. The stronger crops (e.g. beets, wheat, etc.) remain. In this way chemical weed killers are avoided, which is why it is mainly used in organic farming . If there is no intervention in the topsoil, it is called towing .
