Hadj Mohammed Mesfewi , called the arch-murderer of Marrakech , († June 13, 1906 ) was a Moroccan serial killer who murdered at least 36 women and was executed for them.

Murders and executions

Mesfewi worked as a shoemaker and trader . Assisted by a 70-year-old woman named Rahali , he invited young women to dinner, drugged them and killed them in their sleep.

Twenty-six corpses mutilated with a dagger could be found buried under his shop, while the other ten could be found under another piece of property he owned. He robbed his victims in order to enrich himself.

His execution on May 2, 1906 was supposed to be by crucifixion , but since foreign diplomats found this type of killing to be too brutal, Mesfewi was walled up in Marrakech on June 11, 1906 and died two days later.
