Hadrian comes from the Latin Hadrianus and means man from the port city of Adria . According to ancient tradition, the epithet of the emperor Publius Aelius Hadrianus (1st / 2nd century) goes back to the place of origin of his parents: Hadria, today Atri , province of Teramo.
