The Port of Long Beach is the second largest container port in the United States after the Port of Los Angeles . In 2016, a container throughput of 6.78 million  TEU was achieved. According to the company, 7.54 million container units were handled in 2017, making this the busiest year in the port's history. The port has 80 berths and 66 post-Panamax-sized gantry cranes on an area of ​​approx. 13 square kilometers  .
