Hafner Cross

The Hafnerkreuz in Rednitzhembach is a replica of a historical land monument in the Middle Franconian municipality of Rednitzhembach in Bavaria .

The stone cross is located on the northern outskirts of the municipality of Rednitzhembach. The modern Latin cross stands there in a green strip between a noise barrier on the B2 federal road and the local road “Schaffnacher Weg”. The small monument is made of sandstone , is hardly weathered and measures 110 × 90 × 17 cm.

Location

Nominally it reminds probably due to the death of a potter (potter). In earlier times, pan, port and pot patchers, knife and scissors grinders moved from village to village with handcart. One suspects an attack with fatal consequences. The cross is a replica from 1975 of a missing historical atonement cross . Only a torso of the original cross remained , which disappeared when the B2 was built. The new cross was moved twice and has been in its current location since 2014. Exactly when and why the missing, historical cross was erected is not known. Legend:
