history

This daily newspaper can look back on a long history. In 1842, Eberhard Ernst Christian Weidenbach set up the first Dillenburg printing house at 101 Hauptstrasse. The “Dillenburger Wochenblatt” was founded as early as 1839 and was later renamed “Zeitung für das Dillthal” and then DILL-ZEITUNG. In 2002 the “Dillenburger Wochenblatt” was brought back to life. Since then, the official bulletin has appeared once a week and is distributed to around 12,000 households in Dillenburg and the districts.

The daily newspapers Dill-Zeitung, Haigerer Kurier and Herborner Echo are published today by Verlag E. Weidenbach . They appear in the former Dillkreis and neighboring regions ( Siegerland , Hinterland, Westerwald ). The publishing house and printer have been producing the “Heimatjahrbuch für den Dillkreis” since 1957. There are also other publications (books, advertising papers, business stationery).

In the meantime the editorial team has been dissolved and some former members of the editorial team have merged with the then still competing Dill-Post (Wetzlarer Neue Zeitung). Dill-Zeitung and Dill-Post only differ in the newspaper header and are both published by Wetzlardruck GmbH.
