Hairbreadth Harry was the most famous comic strip by Charles William Kahles . It was published from 1906 to 1939. With him melodramatic elements and cliffhangers were introduced into the comic world. Creator of Hairbreadth Harry was the German-born artist Charles William Bald . The strip began as a Sunday page on October 21, 1906 and appeared as the daily strip from 1923 . After Kahles' death in 1931, Franklin Osborne Alexander took over the strip and continued it until 1939. While the comic was initially distributed by the McClure Syndicate, six months after its cessation in 1915, the Ledger Syndicate took over the publication of Hairbreadth Harry .
