Haakon (traditional, Danish-based spelling) or Håkon (modern common Scandinavian spelling), Old West Norse and Icelandic Hákon , is a Norwegian male given name , which has become known in particular as the name of a number of kings of the Scandinavian country.
The original meaning of the name is "big / high son", composed of há "big, tall" and konr "son".
