Halban ( Arabic حلبان Ḩalbān ) is a place in the Muscat Governorate , Wilaya Sib , in northeast Oman , west-southwest of the capital Muscat. 2010 the place had 716 inhabitants, compared to 481 inhabitants in 2003. Halban is part of the Muscat Capital Area .
The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) has had its headquarters here since the 2012/2013 winter semester. The campus was designed by the architects Hoehler + alSalmy.
Beehive tomb tower ruins of the Umman Nar culture of the Bronze Age are not far from the village .
