from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brassert III dump , also known as Lipper Höhe , is a mining dump in Brassert (Marl) . It is located south of the Wesel-Datteln Canal and west of Wulfener Strasse. Between 1955 and 1992, tailings from the Brassert colliery and the Fürst Leopold colliery were deposited here. The greening began while the dump was in operation. It occupies an area of 34 hectares and reaches a height of 88 meters above sea level or 51 meters above the surrounding area. The heap was acquired by the Ruhr Regional Association in 1999 and made accessible to the public. There is a parking lot on the east side. The dump is accessed by two routes. There is a summit cross on the Haldenspitze . Once a year the Brassert clubs celebrate a summer festival on the Halde. The Brassert I / II dump is located about 1.5 km to the southeast .
