The Hallburg (named after gr. Ἅλς (neck) salt because of the salt mines in the immediate vicinity or germ. Adal puro noble Cooperative ) is an Outbound castle in Hallein in the province of Salzburg in Austria .
The castle was part of the medieval fortifications on Georgsberg in the west of Hallein, built in 1196 and belonging to the archbishop. In 1578 the farmers Lindenbichler and Stampfel from Lungau were executed at the castle by Archbishop Johann Jakob Kuen von Belasy . The Hallburg was demolished in 1828.
Older research assumed the Hallburg to be the predecessor of the Vesten Sulzeneck or Schoßrisen.
