The indoor swimming pool south , also called Südbad , in Bremen - Neustadt in the Neustadtswallanlagen , Neustadtswall 81, is one of the municipal swimming pools in Bremen , which are managed by the Bremer Bäder GmbH . It is one of the most important buildings in Bremen .

Building

In 1969/70, the south indoor swimming pool in Bremer Neustadt was built according to plans by Carl Rotermund and Walter Sommer in the Neustadtswallanlagen next to the University of Bremen . Because of its distinctive shape, it was mentioned in specialist journals and became a structural landmark of the Neustadt. The layout of the entire complex is almost square. The swimming pool is highlighted by its special roof shape. Two steel pylons, which stand between the basins, support a suspended roof in the form of an unequal-sided flat Vs. The indoor pool has two swimming pools, one as a teaching pool and the second as a pool suitable for competitions with 25 lanes and a 1 m and 3 m diving board . A wellness area with a log cabin sauna and foot baths as well as a roof terrace with a winter garden complete the bathroom.

After renovation, it was reopened in 2003. A 72 meter long giant slide now completed the facilities.
