Halparuntiya III.
Halparuntiya III. ( Assyrian Qalparunda) was a Neo-Hittite king of Gurgum and son of Laramas II (Assyrian Palalam). He was a contemporary of Adad-Niraris III. against which he rebelled together with Atarsumki . He lost a subsequent battle and had to cede territory to Kummuh . He may also be the unknown ruler of Gurgum, who belonged to an alliance that began around 800 BC. BC besieged the northern Hamatite city of Hatarikka.
A lion sculpture was found in Kahramanmaraş with a hieroglyphic Luwian inscription reflecting his genealogy. He was probably also mentioned on the statue fragment Maraş 14 by his subordinate Astiwasu.
