The Hamburg Center for Health Economics (HCHE) is a joint center of the University of Hamburg and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf . It was founded in 2011 and is the largest health economic research center in Germany. As one of four health economic centers in Germany, the HCHE receives funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for further expansion.

target

Around 70 economists and medical professionals are jointly researching solutions for challenges in health care at HCHE . This interdisciplinary orientation is intended to create the basis for excellent health economic research. The HCHE also uses the methodological expertise of its members to generate health economic evidence that combines scientific demands with practical implications for policy-makers and decision-makers.

The HCHE is a joint center of the University of Hamburg (UHH) and the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). The following eight chairs / institutes belong to the HCHE:

The scientific management of the center is assumed by an elected core member of the center (since it was founded by Jonas Schreyögg ). The management is responsible for coordinating the center and for public relations.

In addition to the active members of the center, three groups belong to the HCHE:

  • The affiliate group includes scientists who do not research exclusively in the health economics field, but who have a demonstrable interest.
  • The Practice Advisory Board consists of senior practitioners from health care organizations . Its task is to promote dialogue between the members of the center and the health care organizations.
  • In addition, the HCHE is advised by a scientific advisory board made up of respected scientists from the field of health economics . It accompanies the research activities of the HCHE and provides suggestions for further scientific development.

The research focuses on six areas:

  • Big Data & Digital Health

The researchers publish their research results in national and international scientific publications. International scientists have the opportunity to conduct research on one of the main research areas within the framework of the visiting scientist program at HCHE.

The basic concern of the HCHE is to consistently combine teaching and research. Therefore, committed students have the opportunity to work on research projects as part of their Bachelor's or Master's thesis.

Scientists have the opportunity to participate in:

  • HCHE Center Day: Internal scientific exchange of current research
  • PhD seminars: specialist and method courses
  • HCHE Research Seminar: Lecture series in which national and international scientists present current research results
