The Hamilton Bonaduz AG is a manufacturer of medical technology based in Bonaduz and a branch in Domat / Ems in the canton of Grisons . Other business areas include sensor technology , laboratory automation and warehouse technology . Hamilton Bonaduz AG is part of the American parent company Hamilton Company and is the headquarters for five subsidiaries in Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Sweden.
history
In 1947, Clark Hamilton invented in California microliter syringe , an important tool in research laboratories. The company was founded in 1953 and in the 1960s the location for product improvement and sales in Europe was established in Bonaduz. At the beginning, the community provided work space in the basement of the old gym. Production started with 3 employees.
From 1989 optical and electrochemical sensors for process analysis supplemented the product range. Another important product is ventilators . In 2014, the production of syringe products was relocated to Romania . Since 2015, storage and management systems for frozen samples and their archiving have also been part of the offer, which had been developed in the USA from 2007. The groundbreaking ceremony for another production facility in the neighboring municipality of Domat / Ems took place on September 23, 2016 , where CHF 35 million was invested to create 100 jobs.
In 2016, on the 50th anniversary in Switzerland, the company was still family-owned; the second generation consists of four shareholders. Third generation members also work for the company.
The worldwide operating Hamilton Group is represented in Switzerland by the companies Hamilton Bonaduz AG, Hamilton Medical AG and Hamilton Storage GmbH based in Bonaduz and Domat / Ems.
