Location of Hammesdamm in Lower Saxony

Hammesdamm is a part of the municipality of Lastrup with approx. 28 inhabitants (as of 2001).

Origin of the district

Before the division of the Mark, there was a path between the Lastruper mill and a path of the Büters Bridge, which joined on the bush field in the direction of Essen. This path was also known as Hammersvehn .

In 1822 it was decided by the farmer bailiffs of the community of Lastrup to expand the route from the Büters Bridge to Essen as a public military route. This path has been known as Hemmes Damm since 1717 and has grown into a small farming community called Hammesdamm to this day .
