Location of Hemmelte in Lower Saxony

Hemmelte is a district of the municipality of Lastrup in the district of Cloppenburg , Lower Saxony . The peasantry is in the far east of the municipality, about an hour and a half away on foot. The peasantry was first mentioned in the 11th century as Himilithe , Himelte , whereby it is assumed that the final syllable goes back to the word ithi for heather.

location

Hemmelte is in the Oldenburger Münsterland on the federal highway 68 . The Oldenburg – Osnabrück railway runs through the industrial area. In contrast to the other farmers in the municipality of Lastrup, Hemmelte covers a wide area, of which larger areas of land were only cultivated much later than in the rest of the municipality. The small municipality of Ludlage , which does not form its own farmers , also belongs to Hemmelte .

education

There is a full half-day elementary school in the village with currently 102 children in 5 classes. In addition, around 40 children are looked after in the kindergarten , which is sponsored by the church.

Hemmelte Church

religion

The Catholic parish of the Sacred Heart is part of the Dean's Office Löningen . The parish of Hemmelte emerged from the Lastrup parish in 1952. The neo-Gothic church was built in 1894/1895. An extension followed in 1961/1962.

Oil field

The Hemmelte-West oil field is located below Hemmelte. It is the largest oil field in the Oldenburgische Erdöl GmbH concession area. In 1951 it was the first major economic deposit in the Weser / Ems oil province. 8,000 to 9,000 tons are extracted every month.

economy

Hemmelte is the seat of four important employers in the district of Cloppenburg, the two carpenters Balgenort and Kalvelage, the car dealer Wübben and the mixed feed producing agricultural trade Diekgerdes. The operation of the compound feed plant with around 30 jobs today looks back on over 100 years of history. In addition to compound feed, which is produced on site, the company also trades in seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and feed additives.

Sports

The SV Hemmelte, which is primarily active in the field of football , is the only local sports club. In contrast to other small football clubs in the district, the club attaches great importance to youth work. In addition to almost all youth teams in the boys 'area, there are increasingly girls' teams. The women's team, which was launched in 2012, became the relay and district cup winners in its first season.

Culture

Every spring, a number of plays by amateur actors are performed in the village's gym / entertainment hall. Two popular events take place in summer and autumn with the SV Hemmelte sports festival and the fair.
