Hammuda al-Husain

Hammuda al-Husain (also Hammuda Bey ) was ruler of Tunisia from 1782 to 1814 and belonged to the Husainid dynasty ( Husseinites ).

Under his government, war with Algeria broke out between 1807 and 1812 . In an effort to end his country's tribute payments to Algeria, he besieged Constantine in 1807 , but was driven out again. Thereafter, some unsuccessful Algerian counter-attacks (1807-1812) took place, which led to a peace treaty brokered by the Ottomans , which was signed in 1821.
