history

Share from 1922

Isaac Gioth (also: Jizchaq Gioth ) was born on March 10, 1810 in Hanau and died there on June 24, 1861. In his Hanau application for citizenship from 1835, he stated that he wanted to make a living as a soap and light manufacturer. Gioth came from a butcher dynasty and the year 1835 was the year his soap factory was founded.

In 1890 a new building was built at Kölnische Strasse 1, on the corner of Französische Allee , in today's city center of Hanau, not far from Neustädter Marktplatz . Goith's son Jean (died 1883) and then his nephew Friedrich Trebbien continued the J. Gioth company until 1921. Then the company went public. On June 1, 1922, the soap factory carried out a capital increase from one million to three million marks . In addition, it issued 2,000 ordinary shares at 1,000 marks each.

The insolvency proceedings for the company's assets were opened on September 4, 1924 or shortly before, as was the case for the assets of the Chemische Fabrik AG in Hanau, which was founded by the Gioth Group at the end of 1922 . The creditors' meeting decided to continue business for the time being.

In 1926 the company was taken over by Hugo Obermeyer and long-term employees involved. It is still entered in the Hanau address book from 1938, but no longer in the following address book from 1950. The soap factory is also no longer listed in the manual of the German stock corporations from 1943.
