history

The archive bases its holdings on the manuscript archive collection of the music library of the world-famous Dresden Kreuzchor . Here manuscripts, prints and copies of manuscripts from the former choir of the Kreuzchor, which were added to the collection due to their age, more recent editions of the works or their special historical content, have been added. For a long time it stood undiscovered in the library's storerooms in the facility's attic.

The Dresdner Kreuzchor manuscript archive was founded in 2013 with the aim of schematically recording the documents in the manuscript collection as archival material , digitizing them and making this particular story accessible to the public. In cooperation with the music library, the manuscripts and prints were recorded analogously. However, the Dresden Kreuzchor did not support this company; the manuscript archive worked on a voluntary basis from the start. With the move away from analogue recording to digital recording and digitization of handwriting, various online services, including YouTube , Twitter , Vimeo and others, are being used. The first website was launched in 2014. In 2016 a new website was created with an online catalog, newsletter and feature films. The manuscript archive offers the opportunity to experience digitization interactively via the issuu.com platform and the manuscript archive reconstructs unknown works with Musescore. Information on the manuscript archive is disseminated via social networks.

The age range of the works is around 100 years and extends well into the times of Mauersberger . However, the majority of the actual inventory is in 1945, during the firestorm on Dresden were destroyed. Archival materials from the 60s, 70s and 80s dominate.

In 2017 the design was completely revised again and published in the so-called Project 3.0 . The processes in the archive should be automated and the online environment should be designed to be more user-friendly and effective.
