Hangzhou Spark ( Simplified Chinese :杭州闪电; Traditional Chinese :杭州閃電; Pinyin : Hangzhou Shǎndiàn) is a professional Chinese Overwatch - E-sports team of the city of Hangzhou , China , which in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the Pacific Division plays. It was founded by Bilibili in 2018 and has played in the Overwatch League since 2019 as one of eight new expansion teams. It also plays as one of four professional Overwatch teams for China.

On October 7, 2018, Activision Blizzard announced that the Chinese video platform Bilibili had purchased a new team based in Hangzhou for the 2nd season of the Overwatch League . On November 14th, they announced their team name, Hangzhou Spark.

On November 16, they introduced their head coach, Lee Mask Mu-ho, and a week later they published the roster for Hangzhou Spark on Twitter , consisting of various Overwatch Contenders teams from China and Korea .

Start of phase

Hangzhou's first game was a 3-1 win over the Shanghai Dragons on February 14th. They finished phase 1 with a score of 3: 4 and could not fight their way into the stage 1 playoffs.

On November 14th, 2018, they presented their name and logo. The name "Spark" symbolizes the immense speed and power of electricity, as well as the "electrical nature and creative spark" of the Bilibili brand.

The colors of Hangzhou Spark are pink, white and blue. It also shows a hand gesture that looks like a finger gun that shoots with electricity. The logo is intended to refer to Mitoko Misaka from A Certain Scientific Railgun .
