The Hannekenbruch forester's house built in 1937

Hannekenbruch , also Hanneckenbruch , is a forest area between Wernigerode and Ilsenburg in the Harz Mountains . At the beginning of the 18th century there was a sawmill there , which is referred to as the Hanneckenmühle on a map from 1739 . This sawmill was used by the rural communities, who had privileged forest use in the county of Wernigerode since the Middle Ages . The mill was therefore also known as the Landmann sawmill . It was rebuilt in 1714 by the counts forester Schubart. After the mill was closed, a state forester's house was built near it in 1937. The building complex has not been used as a forester's house since the beginning of the 21st century and has been empty for years.

One of the climbs leads via Hannekenbruch to the Brocken , which has been used since the 18th century.

Below the forester's house Hannekenbruch are the Steinerne Renne and the Kleine Renne at the Holtemme . This is divided into the large and the small Holtemme.
