Hannele Tonna

Hannele Tonna ( born Valkonen ; born January 3, 1978 ) is a Finnish orienteer ski runner .

At their first World Cup in Sweden in 2004, Valkonen was second behind Stine Hjermstad Kirkevik from Norway on the long distance. With her compatriots Erja Jokinen and Liisa Anttila she won the relay competition. In 2005 a bronze medal followed in the relay and in 2007 in Russia she was again, this time behind Russian Tatyana Vlasova , second on the long distance, and second with the Finnish relay. With the relay she won the European Championships the following year. At the 2009 World Cup she won the sprint competition, and in 2011 Tonna was third in the women's relay. At the European Championships in 2012, she won the run over the medium distance.

Tonna starts for the club Hankasalmen Hanka from Central Finland where she is trained by her father Paavo Valkonen. She is married to the Norwegian orienteering skier Eivind Tonna . For the Asikkalan Raikas association , she also starts in the summer orienteering run. In 2007 she won the Venlojen viesti with the club relay .
