Hannes B. Mosler

Hannes Benjamin Mosler (born April 11, 1976 in Bremen ) is a German political and East Asian scholar who works primarily on Korea.

Life

In 2003 he received his master's degree in cultural studies and Korean studies from the Humboldt University in Berlin and in 2011 his doctorate (PhD) in political science from the Seoul National University . From 2009 to 2013 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Korean Studies at the Free University of Berlin . From 2013 to 2019 he taught as a junior professor at the Graduate School of East Asian Studies and at the Institute for Korean Studies at the Free University of Berlin. From June to April 2019 he was professor (W2) at the Institute for Korean Studies at the Free University of Berlin, after which he accepted an appointment at the University of Duisburg-Essen . Since then he has been based at the Institute for Political Science (IfP) and at the Institute for East Asian Studies (IN-EAST) and holds the Chair for Social Science East Asian Studies with a focus on Politics and Society in Korea.

His research interests are political and social issues of modern Korea, political parties, party laws and elections, party history and reforms, the political system and constitutional jurisdiction, political education and political memory.
