Hanns Marschall (actually Johannes Ickes ; born June 17, 1896 in Berlin ; † August 12, 1966 in Bad Brückenau ) was a German writer and screenwriter .

Live and act

Johannes Ickes started writing early. Under the pseudonym Hanns Marschall, he published numerous novels in around three decades, such as "The Man Who The World Didn't See", "The Chest from Beijing", "Yvette fell in love too early", "Fatal Night", "Diamonds", “I am the culprit”, “The big ones in the small”, “Oil burns in Persia”, “The beggar from the Pont des Dames”, “Mr Kobin goes on an adventure”, “From 1 to 3. The secret of two hours at night” , “The Bang Case”, “Wilhelmstr. 7 ”,“ Where's Lanis Carlson? ”And“ Shots in Lebanon ”.

In December 1928 Hanns Marschall joined Don Manuel, the bandit for the film, as production manager. In the 1930s, especially in the Third Reich until the outbreak of war in 1939, he wrote a wealth of scripts for (mostly short) films. Marschall was also involved in Harry Piel's last production shortly before the end of the war, The Man in the Saddle . After 1945 he (together with Jürgen von Alten ) only provided one film manuscript (1953) and in 1954 the idea for the Strauss biography Ewiger Walzer .

Individual evidence

  1. Glenzdorf and filmportal.de name the year 1895
  2. IMDb and filmportal.de assign to him in the 1920s those films in which, according to Walter Fritz, "The Austrian Feature Films of the Silent Film Era (1907–1930)", a Hans Marschall, that is, Hans with only one n, is supposed to have been involved . The identity of the two marshals seems more than questionable, especially since there are no points of contact with Austria in the case of the German Hanns Marschall.
