Hans-Joachim Cremer

Hans-Joachim Cremer (born May 16, 1960 ) is a German law scholar and professor at the University of Mannheim .

Life

From 1981 Cremer studied law at the University of Mannheim , where he also passed his first state examination in 1986. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in 1990, he took up a position as a research assistant for Helmut Steinberger at his chair at the University of Heidelberg . There Cremer received his doctorate in 1993. iur., after which he worked as a research assistant at Steinberger's chair. In July 1999 Cremer also completed his habilitation there and received the venia legendi for the subjects constitutional and administrative law, international law, European law and comparative law.

After substituting professorships in Heidelberg and Mannheim, Cremer was appointed to the professorship for public law and legal philosophy at the University of Mannheim in 2000, which he has held as a full professor ever since. From 2002 to 2006 he was Dean of Studies at the Mannheim Faculty of Law. 2005 and 2007, he was also a visiting professor at University College London , and in 2009 at the University of Connecticut and the University of Toulouse I .

Cremer's main research interests are fundamental and human rights protection in the national and international legal system. Another focus is on international and comparative public law.
