Hans Jelenko

Johannes "Hans" Jelenko (* 1943 ) is a former Austrian basketball player .

career

Jelenko, who measures 1.80 meters, was Austrian national champion in 1966 with Union Kuenring Vienna and in 1968, 1969 and 1970 with EKE Vienna. His last year in the country's top division was in 1970/71 when he was the player-coach of SC Zentralsparkasse Wien. For the national team he played in 24 internationals. Jelenko was known as a tough defender.

Jelenko, holding the title of Hofrat Professor Doktor, worked full-time as a teacher and was director of the grammar school in Maroltingergasse in Vienna. In 2003 he was the initiator of the cooperation in the competitive sports branch. At the University Sports Institute of Vienna , he carried out in the sports of basketball and football as a lecturer teaching. As Vice President Jelenko was a member of the board of the Austrian Basketball Association between 2007 and 2012.
