Hans Kiener

Hans Kiener (born May 7, 1891 in Eichstätt ; † November 25, 1964 ) was a German art historian .

Kiener was the son of the art teacher Joseph Kiener (1856-1918). He studied art history at the University of Munich , where he received his doctorate in 1921 under Heinrich Wölfflin . After being first a clerkship at the Bavarian State Library went through, it was on January 1, 1924 as a teacher of art history at the State School of Applied Arts in Munich worked since 1933 as a teacher . In 1937 his habilitation at the University of Munich failed , but on April 20, 1939 he was awarded the title of professor. In 1931/32 he was a member of the Bavarian People's Party and joined the NSDAP in 1932, and in 1933 he became a sustaining member of the SS . In October 1945 he was relieved of his duties as professor. During the denazification after the war, he was initially classified in the group of the polluted, after his opposition in 1948 in the group of followers .
