Hans Mersheimer

Johann "Hans" Christian Mersheimer (born October 29, 1905 ; † 1982 ) was a German industrial manager and board member of Adam Opel AG . Above all, he shaped the Opel models of the 1960s.

Career

In 1920 he began his apprenticeship as a locksmith at Opel and from 1924 to 1926 studied mechanical engineering at the Rheinisches Technikum in Bingen with a degree as an engineer. In 1927 he worked as a body builder and in 1930, after completing vocational training and advanced training, he returned to Opel as an assistant in the body development department. He had been head of the body design department (including model room) from 1949 and became assistant to chief engineer Karl Stief in 1954. In 1959 he was appointed chief engineer and thus the successor to the retired Karl Stief. He was also appointed an extraordinary member of the Adam Opel AG Board of Management. From 1964 to 1967 he was a regular member of the board of directors of Adam Opel AG and since October 1967 Technical Director and since November 1967 Assistant to the Director for technical questions.

In 1970 he ended his professional activity and left Adam Opel AG in October.
