Cogito Prize

The Cogito Prize is a science award from the Wollerau , Switzerland- based Cogito Foundation . It has been awarded every two years by the Board of Trustees of the Cogito Foundation since 2002 and is endowed with CHF 50,000. The current rector of the University of Zurich , Michael Hengartner , the former rector of the University of Zurich, Hans Weder , Christof Aegerter and the behavioral economist researching at the University of Konstanz, Urs Fischbacherare members of the Board of Trustees of the Cogito Foundation (as of 2016). The Cogito Foundation, established in 2002, aims to bring the natural sciences and humanities closer together.

The award ceremony is usually public, takes place at the University of Zurich and is accompanied by a presentation by the award winner.

For her, astronomy is not an auxiliary science to ancient studies or vice versa, but both experience new impulses. "
  • 2014: Donat Fäh , “in recognition of the reassessment of the Basel earthquake in 1356 and its assessment in the context of the regional seismic hazard and risk analysis. For these studies he motivated a multidisciplinary working group to work closely together. "
