Hans Schachl

Hans Schachl (born December 5, 1949 ) is an Austrian pedagogue and a former university rector.

Schachl had been teaching in compulsory schools since the 1970s . He received his doctorate in 1980 at the University of Salzburg in psychology with the dissertation The dependence of speech understanding in the Tachistophone method on learning, intelligence and memory processes .

From 1983 he taught at the Private Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz (then still the Pedagogical Academy) and was appointed director of the academy in 1999. Schachl was the founding rector of the private pedagogical university of the Diocese of Linz and headed it as rector from 2006 to 2012. He made a contribution to the relationships with universities abroad. The University of Latvia made him an Honorary Senator in 2008. He has been a councilor since 2009 .
