Hans Schmandt

Hans Schmandt , also Grave-Schmandt (* 1920 in Gießen , † 1993 in Dietzenbach ) was a German painter , graphic artist and sculptor .

From 1935 to 1937 Hans Schmandt attended drawing courses from the painter Carl Fries at the University of Giessen . From 1937 to 1939 he studied at the Städel Art School in Frankfurt am Main . In 1950 he settled in Frankfurt as a freelance graphic artist and painter. From 1957 until his death in 1993 he lived in Dietzenbach. He created numerous book and advertising illustrations, for example for Deutsche Bahn , as well as murals for public buildings.
