Hans Wolff (art historian)

Hans Wolff (born January 24, 1882 in Berlin ; † 1959 ) was a German art historian and publisher .

Life

Hans Wolff attended the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Berlin up to the final exam in Easter 1901. He then studied natural sciences, from 1903 then art history and classical archeology at the University of Berlin and received his doctorate on March 20, 1909 under Heinrich Wölfflin . From June 2, 1915 to July 1, 1919 he was employed as a research assistant in the Kupferstichkabinett in Dresden . In 1924 he founded the “Neue Verlagsanstalt” in Berlin, which specialized in travel literature. The publishing house was closed in 1931 for economic reasons. In addition, he was the owner of the book production company "Terramare Presse" who worked for the "Terramare Office" of the lawyer Karl Kiesel (1878-1960).
